r|alex: let's speed-recap

... 'cuz the last time i posted for you (r|alex) was a july 1 post. (yikes!) and i've kept myself busy on the weekends here & there.

so here we go ...

wkend of july 7 ... i don't recall what i did during that weekend. oh well- maybe later! probably the traditional food run, car wash, etc.

weekend of july 14 ... nephew turned 9, and it was quite the 9 yr old b-day party. requisite cake & other goodies with boy theme - hot wheels and cars. and those white pokey things on the cake? i think they are ... i don't know what they are. i didn't know then ... and i don't know now. also had sunday brunch with friends at saul's in berkeley - yum, yum, yum! did quite a bit of shopping out/about in berkeley afterwards. and then that evening was a great din of loma saltado (YUM!) with friends visiting up from southern california. (and i got to meet 2 four-square champions, circa 1970-whatever, that went to elementary school in fremont.)

weekend of july 21 ... another kid birthday, and this time it was a gal's 1-yr old b-day. her parents choose to have an 'adult' party with lunch at maggiano's in santana row. what did that mean? full bar (open), appetizers, pasta, and desserts (!). and then the evening was spent with some girlfriends at the shoreline amphitheater to see a concert --- the fray, gomez, and eisley. (yes! reggie was jealous.) and sunday brunch? NOPE! sunday coffee? Y'BETCHA ... with ps - a coffee date ... first meet-up. (i'll spare you the suspense ... as of today, we have yet to get schedules synch'd for our second meet-up for din or brunch or ... just a second meet-up. yes, i'd like to meet-up with ps again.) oh - and yes, we met at peet's.

weekend of july 28 ... an auntie (family friend) died the previous weekend. saturday was her funeral/mass with a luncheon buffet following after the funeral. this was quite emotional. totally reconnecting with old family friends/friends from h.s. & college era. saturday night and sunday was spent reflecting, working, and preparing for my SD trip the following week.

weekend of august 4 ... i was in SD with work (majority of time) and non-work (minority of time). yes, i did not meet up with r|alex. "flash" of r|alex is less interesting to me than "focus" on r|alex-time. (r|alex - i intend to stalk spend time with you next time i get to SD, which will be before sept 17. will you have me?) had some posts about the trip ... brunch on sunday, which also had an afternoon of lazing at coronado. 'cuz i missed kickboxing on thurs, at least did a little shadow boxing. did go to influx (of course) for the wifi + also went to library.

weekend of august 11 ... this was a weekend with the errands and work (and i mean LOTS o' work). standard errands ... peet's, tj's, car wash, post office, etc. and then vc (hangout buddy) & i reconnected with our heritage at the annual pistahan festival in san francisco (held at yerba buena center for 2007).

vc's waiting in line to purchase a reading staple, c.bulosan's america is in the heart. (see the book in his left hand? it's there - peeking at the bottom of pic ... vc is s'pose to read this while on his 2+wks jaunt to egypt & kenya. i will re-read.) after some booth food, two small originaloil paintings (studies, more like), hanging out to people watch and check out the events ... a walk across the street for a cream puff + an eclair at beard papa's, the unsuccessful stalking of an ex, ... then a drive to find a stationery store to purchase blank thank you cards ...

ended up on chestnut so vc could purchase cute p.klee blank cards. got MAJOR CHOICE parking while driving around, so we decided to plop at the grove on chestnut for the wifi/work + a couple glasses of wine ... closed out with chow at askew on steiner. (yes. bad hair day make for the requisite SD baseball cap while inside a dark coffee house.)

weekend august 18 ... another '80s reunion event, and this time a saturday picnic (pics over here). so i met 'picnic-table-holder-al' early to ... well, hold 2 picnic tables for the group. was fun! (there was a date potential that evening, which later did not come to fruition.) and sunday was more "catch-up" day for work and stuff around the house.

and then to start off the work week, some asshole skinny-ass-punk-shithead(s) broke into my home. so in addition to the many new things i have learned since monday, 08/20 (and i'm sure to continue learning more), needless to say, this weekend also was a bit active ...

weekend august 25 ... more dealing with potential identify theft stuff, catching up on work because i didn't get to do much through the past week, and enjoying myself quite a bit. on saturday, was planning to just spend an hour or so at the palo alto arts festival and ended up hanging out/totally bonding with adolfo girala, fab artist and person (and got a little adolfo original) for SEVERAL hours. (awesome conversation - inspiring, healing, enjoyable, authentic, creative, spiritual, and occasional nice&catty stuff) client/friend billn called 'cuz he was in town for work stuff at the project site; dinner was calling so i drove up to SF, and we chow'd at crustacean on polk then espressos at the grove - to later drop him off at the wharf.

... sunday ended with hanging out with l&o who slept over (and had sushi din-din) before my driving them (just this monday morn) to OAK for their heading off to hawai'i for a vacation ... AND a major highlight of my weekend ...
