... between chicken and a platter of shit!

seeing/hearing david sedaris ... this evening in midtown sacramento was fabulous. i LOVE d.sedaris - his humor, his writing, his him!!! (white people like him, too.)

day #1 mini-vacation ... started nicely with dot & lunch at thai basil (warning: link takes you to site -music playing) in midtown. great chat and conversation. phrase for lunch? "this is abuse." (out of context, not funny; in context, funny and tragically true in the figurative sense.) then a little down-time with my computer, cd shopping, and coffee. din before the show was at zocalo in midtown. (yum-yum-yum and great friends with whom to share meal and drinks.) then off to the sedaris event.

books and more ... and yes, with my slightly occasional obssesive personality, i have all his books, a few other books/authors he has recommended, the carnegie hall cd, and the ultimate sedaris box of his audiobooks. i still find myself thumbing through many of his stories - and still listening to his books randomly. love his new book, too.

this eve ... it was just a pleasure. thanks to lori for getting the tix!!! only other time i saw/heard him was when i lived in socal - drove up to ucla to hear him (2004 tour). worth the traffic and the drive back then. and if you live d.sedaris and haven't seen/heard him - go! at least hear him (audiobook, perhaps?) if you don't get a chance to see/hear him.

one of his readings ... this eve included, in addition to excerpts from his diary, an article - "undecided" that is currently in the new yorker. chuckle. (AND as extra chuckles this eve, when he read this article, there was a little, itty, bitty change - "... human" was in place of "... the platter of"). chuckle-chuckle.
