chuck norris facts

mini-confession ... this poster resides on the building floor for which i work. normally, the poster is 5 floors down. i left a note. it's not like i asked for ransom money. o.k. - i didn't ask permission, but plushie said so ... and i just complied!

backstory ... after scurrying frantically (and determinedly) around (5 floors of and the connecting stairwells at) work this past thursday - simply to tackle find the protective-badge-retractable-holder-man for my must-have cubeopolis smart card - the bonus was coming across this poster.

the poster lives ... 5 floors down from my cubeopolis, a humor break, which happened to be across from a colleague's cube (who, by the way, has a giant microbe hanging in his office - i so **heart** him even more, but i digress - we shall call him plushie). i chose humor over protective-badge. i chose well.

later, 5 floors up ... minutes later, back in cubeopolis, pho queen managed to pounce on another protective-badge-retractable-holder-man, and pho queen & i became part of the fold ... chicas in cubeopolis sporting retractable holders from our waistband. as a treat, pho queen & i stairwelled down 5 floors for the tour of the chuck norris poster abode. plushie was there. i told him i planned to bring the tour-bus-of-peeps for humor breaks. he encouraged the multi-floor interaction.

then plushie said something like ...

"in fact, you guys should get a poster
and then we can come up and visit you!"

i complied ... great idea! deal done via the OSRP ~ aka office supply relocation program. chuck now sits prominently outside a newbie's cube. (hee-hee) side note - newbie mentioned there is a book o' chuck facts - and you can buy it but note that chuck was not a happy camper, indeed. (ahhh ... i feel better confessing.)

as for fave facts-on-poster echoed by cubesters ... from the poster, they include (in no special order) -

• If, by some incredible space-time paradox, Chuck Norris would ever fight himself, he'd win. Period.

yesterday's fiber break hyperlinking was not as fulfilling as capturing/sharing cubeopolis metaquote blessings. that said, for l.a.g. & ponytail, just memorializing the selection process for one of us emerging as the feigned big kahuna (aka the person who lost).

and next time (... 'cuz we'll just need to create a next time!), we shall graduate to the other selection process.

r|break: ... weekend fiber break

was a bit of a slow morning and then a random day mixed with exercise, chiro, dim sum, and electric clipper action - and now an evening of tax stuff ... so here are links to some of my favorite fiber breaks o' the past.

and before i start hyperlinking-hell, a bit about the fiber breaks ... fiber breaks started as a result of yip-yap around cubeopolis. the predecessor to fiber breaks - cubeopolis metaquote. a few of us were (apparently) talking & laughing at a volume perhaps akin to "11" for someone(s), so we were asked to unvolume it. (o.k. - that's not exactly what we were asked to do, but effectively we turned the knob to the left.) that said, the maiden voyage of what has eventually become fiber break ...

• a l'il looney tunes rabbit fire (and perhaps for obvious reasons)
  

ultimately, a few of us started free-thinking about fave movies and reminiscing about childhood cartoons. (mind you - my childhood happened while some of the cubesters were either just a thought/hope of young love (or lust) wanting to score, reliant upon someone cleaning up their poopy, or old enough to know not to eat their poopy.)

and then one saturday morning after (or maybe during?) a fiber break (yes, you know what i mean), i thought (was thinking) about a few more cubeopolis chatter (aka cubeopolis metaquotes). and what was once briefly a clip from one of the movies we chatted, as well as share a 'toon that a few cubesters also enjoyed, became part of my fiber break, weekend morning habit - keying off of chatter, events, and other cubeopolis related fun-times. so here ...

here is a bit of '80s cubeopolis tunes. total blast from the past, and despite the fact that l.a.g. was in elementary school (or kindergarten or something), l.a.g. can still appreciate some tighty whities, while ponytail and i exchange '80s music memories.

(with this tune stuck in our head, we started naming other '80s bands of the past - and of this genre ... along with reminiscing about '80s apparel, jewelry, hair, etc.)

... so to undo the '80s retro-effect, i steered ponytail to a band that did a cover of nirvana's smells like teen spirit. (yup, that undid the '80s retro-effect. then we had to hug each other for support.)

i'll spare the video, but if you REALLY want to see what resulted in the support-hug, i'll send you the link. it's worth it (maybe a canadian quarter or something) for reasons related to "smooth skin" - if y'know what i mean.

(and if that's too long, at least take in the 1st clip (space madness) of this morn's fiber break) -

according to my work's how i spend most of my days (in cubeopolis) space policy ... d'oh. i mean ... shhhh ... hmmm, i mean, according to ...? let's simply call it math. according to math ...

two people ... are moving on (tear) - however, let it be noted that neither is departing via a cubectomy - each is just moving on to different cubepolitans ... one floor up and another several floors down. [update: they have already moved on]

the outcome ...? (aside from two vacancies for new worker-bees in cubeopolis) there will be two vacant cubes. these cubes are WINDOW cubes. TWO WINDOW CUBES! let. me. say. this. again ... TWO (!!!) often - coveted - in - cubeopolis WINDOW cubes!

musical cubes (aka musical cubicals) ... is in the line of sight. turns out, depending on one's time-served at cubeopolis - the more years, the closer one is to the front of the line to select and relocate to another cube. in other words, math says that the more time one has spent in cubeopolis (aka "time-served"), the closer one is to the front of the line for deciding which cube one wants. math says ...

• most time spent = head of the line
• least time spent = somewhere behind the end of the line

my number in line? ... it's been approximately 9 months (minus 5 days of leave-without-pay for vacation). but WAIT! this is actually my second stint in cubeopolis, albeit on a different lat/long. my first stint was for approximately 18 months nearly 20 years ago. for math's sake, let's call me: could-have-window-first [update: my 1-yr anniversary in cubeopolis is now just around the corner]

according to cubeopolis's math, two interns my fellow cubesters are zeroes EVEN THOUGH they work their asses off. and frankly, given that these interns cubesters are members of the cubeopolis society, "zeroes my ass!" i say. (loyalty at work, here!)

relevant statistics for two interns two cubesters is 23 months and 22 months. for math's sake, let's speak of them as: 23i and 22i.

estimating the ever-so-critical time-served (aka ...let's follow what math says about calculating time-served) ... what does math say about each cubesters' existence?

• could-have-window-first = ~ (9 + 18) = 27 months
  
• 23i = 0 months
  
• 22i = 0 months
  

that is what math says. my fellow cubesters do not have a place in line. math tells me, figuratively speaking, that the two interns my fellow cubesters (whom i've spent quite a bit of time with - at least ~ 8 hrs a day, if y'know what i mean) are actually, well ... they are kind of imaginary, like an imaginary unit, sorta kinda, i guess. i wouldn't say they are "zeroes", y'know?

in short, they are not imaginary.

*(o.k. - that's all i got, 'cuz the rest of writing this post has escaped me.
simply put, i don't agree with cubeopolis's math, and
although i had the option to move to a window cube,
i chose not to exercise that option, out of principle.
i've lent money to 22i and 23i has pardoned my utot**,
so i KNOW 23i and 22i exists in cubeopolis 'cuz they know i exist.)
