in late 2006, relocated my angst, business, and social life to NoCal from SoCal ... just a 40-something chick in the 'burbs of the SF bay area who randomly posts about random topics ... the occasional quirky stories of dating (or not) at 40-ish, work-week cubeopolis frivolity, rambling musings on nostalgika, and the occasional introspective moments in life.(thanks for visiting! >p, b)

numero quatro ...
happy 4th '08!!!
discubination: ethically or legally questionable management practice. involves favoring one worker over another by granting the favored one a cubicle with a window (either real or trompe l'oeil),
one that is larger than 6' x 6', or one with (gasp!) full-height walls all around.
cubarriage: marriage between cubesters (as in "If cubpid is successful and there is a cubarriage, can said cubester receive cubernity leave?").
cubernity: paid time off from work for cubester for caring for a newborn child or for an adopted child.
cuberalissimo: (i) cubester with the most years (aka seniority) in cubeopolis; (ii) cubester considered the despot head honcho (figuratively or literally); (iii) head honcho cubester in a latin american cubeoplis; (iv) self-aggrandized cubester (irrespective of seniority).
musical cubical: a change in your cubicle location when a cubester(s) quits is taken away unwillingly moves on. however, UNLIKE its sister-fun of musical chairs (e.g., where each person has relatively equal-opportunity-access at a chair), the selection process is prescriptive. the cuberalissimo (i.e., definition (i) above) has first choice, and then the succeeding cuberalissimo has second choice, and so on and so forth.
hypercubing: the practice of getting the most miles out of your cubicle imprisonment by drafting more productive cube-mates (a.k.a., "riding the coattails of others"), coasting through your own assignments, turning off your engine to drink a frappucino at inappropriate moments, and overinflating your own accomplishments.

Don't forget:
Harry Cubini -- the staffer who always seems to disappear whenever an important assignment comes in.
Cuberace -- sexually ambiguous staffer who always wants to "entertain" everyone, including someone's brother named George, with questionable musical selections on either a piano or ukelele at the annual Festivas party. Tends to wear more bling than a blind rapper.
Can one develop cubitis from the day in day out occupation of a cubical?
