ReLo'd to BA from SD

in late 2006, relocated my angst, business, and social life to NoCal from SoCal ... just a 40-something chick in the 'burbs of the SF bay area who randomly posts about random topics ... the occasional quirky stories of dating (or not) at 40-ish, work-week cubeopolis frivolity, rambling musings on nostalgika, and the occasional introspective moments in life.(thanks for visiting! >p, b)

day 3 ... and a bit badge-challenged

Bookmark and Share

a form was submitted on day 1 ... i have filled out and submitted the form (on day 1) for an i.d. badge, and yet, i have no badge. what's so good about a badge? - picture, employee i.d. number, location, name, and the ability to move freely and not be escorted around the building by actual badge-holders.

day 2 efforts ... in anticipation of getting my badge on day 2, i made a point that i would have a good hair day, anchorperson clothes (the one where at least from the waist up one's shirt/jacket/whatever looks fine & dandy), eyeliner, lipliner + lipstick, a little blush/bronzer, and a little mascara (which is not normally attempted). badge machine down for the day.

day 3 status ... in anticipation of a repaired badge machine on day 3, i made the same point i did on day 2, as well as going a little bit more of the extra mile with the good hair day. security told me the badge machine was up, so i did the happy dance at the counter and gleefully went up to my office to find the person that would assist in my getting my badge. after a few calls and visit to another floor in the building, found out i was misinformed about the operability of the badge machine. in other words, badge machine no worky.

so yesterday's quote from my friend d is really advice:

every day is badge day.

... it only begs the obvious quote from the treasure of the sierra madre that goes like this:

Badges? We ain’t go no badges.
We don’t need no badges.
I don’t have to show you any stinking badges.

well, i do need me a stinking badge ... and i also just gots to remember that i might as well always have a good hair day, be nicely dressed, and primp just a tad.

so perhaps, for day 4 ... i will, in fact, have a make-shift badge to wear around - somewhat in protest.
i'm thinking
i'll badge-up
this l'il puppy ...

I shall refrain from taunts of "That's what you get!" because I *heart* you. I am sure that everything will worok out just fine, you will be badge-fulfilled soon, and therefore feel like a regular government automoton, just like everyone else.

Did that just slip out? Damn. :)

We love Shirl!
