aug 7 is the day that ...
... i talked to "a" in the a.m., saw "g" in hayward, drove to SF for lunch at askew (on steiner) with a different "g", had mac n cheese (comfort food) ... then will do some shopping, drop off "g", see the simpsons movie, skip yoga, kickboxing and salsa, take mom + her friends out to din-din, and ... celebrate that my first day on payroll with [the man] will be sept 16 - and I will dress nicely for [the man] on the 17th. question is -- should I drive in or BART in?!

Congratulations, Shirl! You should definitely BART in. Better yet, get a hybrid bike and ride in on BART and the half-block or so to the EPA tower.
Welcome back to the brewroxie.
Rock the BART, even though with carpet and cloth seats it doesn't seam very subway-ish. It is still a metro-way to travel, but very un-CA (it seems driving is the preferred way of travel).
Expose neck, apply shoe. Good for you, hopefully you can do some good and earn the money the taxpayers (actually, the money-lenders, the taxpayers won't have a lot to do with your salary, their grandchildren will) supply.
As an alternate, if you don't roll with BART, try buying a diesel H1 for a few months, then go hybrid, you will have personally contributed positively to the air quality in your region.
